Jite Brown tasks Udu residents to Patronize Primary Health Centres.
The people of Udu Local Government Area have been urged to make effective use of primary Health facilities in their neighborhood in order to improve the quality of health in the Udu Council Area.
The Chairman of the Udu Local Government Primary Health Authority, Honourable Mereh and the Executive Secretary, Dr Mrs Excel Ernest-Okonofua made the call during a three day tour of the sixteen health Centres in Udu Local Government Area.
The Committee visited the Health Centres at Otor-Udu, Owhrode, Ukpiovwin, Oghior, Ogbe-Udu, Ubogo, Emadadja and Egini.
Other Primary Health Facilities visited by the Authority were those at Ujevwu, Ekete, Orhuwhorun, Opete, Ovwian, Aladja, Oleri and the Udu Health Post.
During the three day tour, the Committee had interactive sessions with the healthcare workers and leaders of the Host Communities.
It was observed that there was low patronage of health Centres in spite of the free mother and child care, free treatment for children under five, and free malaria test and treatment put in place by the State Government.
It was also noticed that the low patronage of health facilities was due to ignorance, patronage of trado-medical facilities and self medication.
Speaking during the tour, the Chairman of the Authority, Honourable Mereh and the Executive Secretary, Dr Mrs Ernest-Okonofua said the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Chairman of Udu Chairman of Udu Local Government, Chief Jite Brown were committed to the provision of quality for the residents in the Area.
According to Honourable Mereh and Dr Mrs Ernest-Okonofua, it is the determination of the Udu Council Chairman that the residents would not only see Primary Health Centres as facilities meant for the poor but also as the first port of call in meeting their health needs.
They urged the people to always to always visit the Health Centres for their health wellbeing noting that medical services are almost free, while the facilities are manned by competent staff.
Honourable Mereh and Mrs Ernest-Okonofua also disclosed that Chief Jite Brown had approved referral letters in which any patient referred from any Primary Health Centres in Udu to any Secondary Health Facilities would enjoy preferential attention in anywhere in the Country.
They called on leaders of the Host Communities to the Health Facilities to publicize the medicare services provided by the Facilities, especially the free medical packages, so that their people could benefit.
The Deputy Leader of Udu Local Government Legislative Arm, Honourable Faith Emetejirhaye and Presidents-General of Emadadja, Ekete and Ovwian, Mr Johnbull Aminoni, Evangelist Emmanuel Kpomalefe, Chief Matthew Uparan respectively amongst other persons thanked Governor Okowa and Chief Jite Brown for giving attention to the Primary Health Services towards providing quality medical services to the grassroots.
Also on the Udu Local Government Primary Health Authority are the Udu Council's Supervisor for Health, Evangelist Emmanuel Kpomalefe and Chief Love Okoro.
