Afejuku Urges Youths To Get Required Skills For Employment

The Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor  on Special Duties, Comr. Edwin Afejuku has called on Youths in Delta State and Nigeria at large to get Required Skills that will enable  them secure gainful employment in the Present day realities.

Afejuku who disclosed this at the weekend in Warri, admonished parents and guardians to enrol their Children in Technical Schools where they will get the required skills and training to succeed in the future.

He said "I have a skill that put food on my table before today, I'm a field worker, I have worked as a grander, firewatch, Mechanical Fitting, Structural welder, Hydro Technician and Pipe Fitter"

In addition, he maintained that In the Oil Sector today, skilled workers are very important, the person that has a skill is easy to be employed than those with just a degree certificates. With your Certificate, you can still acquire skills that is very valuable in this present society and you can also ge employers of labour  where you can  employ more persons as your business continues to grow.

Furthermore, he called on youths to take  advantage of the Delta State Technical & Vocational Education Board which focuses on various Skills at a very subsidized rate. The following courses are available;

1. Fashion and Design
2. Hairdressing and Makeover
3. Electrical Installation Works
4. Information Communication Technology (ICT).
5. Welding and Fabrication
6. General Craft
7. Catering and Confectionery
8. Computer Engineering
9. Barbing
10. Event Management and Decoration

While at the MULTI-PURPOSE YOUTH TRAINING CENTRE (MPYTC) EGBOKODO, WARRI

1. Welding and Fabrication and Pipe Fitting.
2. Motor Vehicle Mechanic.
3. Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
4. Carpentry and Joinery.
5. Diesel Plant Fitting, Repair and Maintenance.
6. Electrical and Electronics Installation.
7. Catering and Hotel Management.
8. Fashion Design.
9. Hair Dressing and Cosmetology.
10. Event Management and Decoration.
11. Plumbing.
12. Fish Farming.
13. Tiling and Interlocking Tiles.
14. Phone and GSM Repair.

He applauded the Executive Governor of Delta State Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his steadfastness and  love for Deltans in ensuring that the youths in the State are self reliance via Productive Programmes and Policies Put in Place by his administration which has not only better the lives of Deltans but has also transformed the State to an enviable height.
