GOV OKOWA'S LEADERSHIP STYLE; PROMISES MADE BEING SYSTEMATICALLY FULFILLED.

Patriot Dantes Odogwu.

Long before the desire to aspire for the highest office in Delta State, Gov. Okowa was decorated with the chieftaincy title 'Ekwueme' as a recognition of his 'talk na do' personality.

'Ekwueme' simply means 'He does what he says'; as such, his knack to ensure that political promises were fulfilled made him such an admired personality across the length and breadth of Delta State.

In fact, his political ideology which I may personally describe here in my own words as 'Okowaclusivism', travelled like wildfire in harmattan season to engender the kind of grassroot mobilisation that he still commands till date.

Okowaclusivism has remained such a brand that promotes political inclusiveness, where all communities and loyal followers at a given time would never be left out of the scheme of things. Over the years, this practice of inclusive politics has seen him carry out landmark projects across the State both as a Commissioner and now a Governor.

He assumed office as governor in 2015 with the concept of Job Creation for the teeming youths in the State. This was modelled to promote SMEs, thereby continuously creating large pool of entrepreneurs that would outlive his administration.

The Exhibition by beneficiaries of the scheme in December last year and the accompanying testimonies show how far the Job Creation Office,a model for other States, has fared in the Governor's Quest to generate employment and create entrepreneurs.

Not minding the views held by naysayers, the programme has greatly been of benefit to previously unemployed youths;as such it has drawn the admiration of several Associations and Organisations.

In terms of infrastructural development, he had gone ahead to commence work on so many projects that were adjudged abandoned by critics. With 150 roads already constructed and still counting.

He continues to score huge points by commencing work on such projects that critics of his administration had criticised him for and used by them to malign his administration.

Even all those who had gone personal in their pessimism of his intentions for the State, have had to watch, with hands at akimbo, while he calmly addresses their concerns on all front.

He had assured Deltans that with the continued rise in the Federal Allocation and a continuous ceasefire from militants, more landmark projects would be achieved this year 2018. He is sincerely living up to that promise.

The administration had taken the bull by the horn by unveiling the hidden secrets in the Airport Contract awarded to Ulo Construction; Deltans feel happy about the revelation because this is a project of high priority to all and sundry. Consequently, the project was re awarded to Setraco, who has lived up to expectation and are working towards meeting up the time scheduled for completion.

To present his score card to the people and interact with them on the journey so far, he had commenced Town Hall meetings to certain parts of the State again. This would obviously bring him before the electorate for a heart to heart talk on the forward.

In retrospect, it is important to remind all that Governor Okowa toured the State with the vision of Prosperity for Deltans in 2015 and had not lost grip of strategies towards achieving it.

Every initiative of his administration has this vision as the over riding goal.  This is a year of implementing more lofty initiatives with the purpose of repositioning not a few Deltans on the right course of being job creators and not seekers.

The infrastructural initiatives are already opening up the State to more investors and is obviously providing a better environment to the entire citizenry.

This is obviously a year of political realignments and expectedly, lots of decamping and cross carpeting would be experienced.

We are confident that Gov. Okowa's  (Ekwueme) impact in all the LGAs and the various sectorial developmental initiatives shall be Political Monuments to be pointed at as reasons to commend the Governor so far and work towards bringing him back in 2019
