ITIHWE CALL FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION IN CONNECTION WITH OKPARE OIL SPILLAGE
























Sir(Chief) Dr. Amos Itihwe - DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South today during his visit to the scene of the oil spillage at Okpare Olomu which resulted in a fire outbreak called on the federal government to quickly intervene in the situation facing Okpare Community.

He stressed that the aquatic life in Okpare river have been destroyed by the oil spillage and fire outbreak which by extension will also affect the soil and thus agricultural activites will be grately affected.

He also use the opportunity to call on the people to shun pipeline vandalisation and illegal refineries which may be a major cause of the spillage resulting to the fire that have caused huge damage to the environment.

Itihwe also call on oil companies operating in the area to take immediate action of cleaning up the spillage and compensating farmers for the damage caused so far.
