Jite takes Okowa's Zero Tolerance for measles campaign to Udu. - Sets record as first LG Chairman to flag off measles vaccination campaign.

In order to actualize the  Delta State Governor Dr.Ifeany Okowa's  zero tolerance for measles in Delta State, the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Hon. Chief Jite Brown flagged off the 2018 measles vaccination campaign at Otor-Udu headquarters of Udu Local Government today 01/03/18,  making him the first Local Government Chairman in Delta State to flag off measles vaccination campaign after Delta State Governor Okowa started the  flag off yesterday 28/02/18 at  at Oleh, Isoko South local government area of Delta State.

Speaking at the event today, the Udu Council Boss stated that measles is a highly contagious but vaccine preventable disease caused by a virus in the family of anamyxovirus, revealing that the World health organization estimated that 2.6 million die each year from measles globally, with majority of these death occurring in Africa. He further thanked the Governor of Delta State Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his immeasurable support and kindness and other partners like W.H.O, UNICEF, Rotary International, Delta State Primary Health care Development Agency among others for their supports. He  posited that as a solid proof of his determination to add value to all segments of Udu and health in particular on the 22nd of February 2018, he  embarked on a familiarization and fact finding mission to all the 15 Health Centres in Udu Council.

Earlier Omawumi Daibo of NPHCDA from Abuja who  lauded the Udu Council Chairman for resuscitating the campaign against measles is Udu Local Government after 10 years in council said that the measles vaccination for Children between ages 9 and 5 years.

   Other speakers which included the Udu Council's HPM, Secretary Local Education authority Hon. Daniel Tishene, CAN Vice Chairman in Udu Rev. Samson Tetsegba all eulogised Hon Chief Jite Brown for placing high premium on the wellbeing of all Udu people.

High point of the occasion was vaccination of Children which the Council'sChairman started and distribution of customised free notebooks to encourage mothers to make their Children available when the need arises.

Emmanuel Kpomalefe Supervisory for Health Udu, Chairman Committee on health Hon Faith Emetejitaye, Hon. Eki Afuevure, Comr. Johnbull Kenairu among others.
