CHIEF BARRISTER KINGSLEY ESISO : THE POPE OF MODERN POLITICS

By: Stephanie Ikanone

Come, lets us rejoice in the unfolding of a new place as Delta State is on her way to consolidating her position as the choicest jewel of Nigeria; a shining star would soon sit on the throne and with stars twinkling in our eyes, a big smile will gradually form on our parted lips.

Delta State will continue to rise triumphantly into the waiting arms of greatness; Delta State is destined to rule the nation again. But, let's not forget the man who has selflessly offered his un-defeating guiding hands to marshal the plans for the most successful political Party in Delta State, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, a man totally committed to the development of the dreams of Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa development, and keeping alive the aspirations of the State founding fathers.

Esiso, a glittering example of a man who has ignited the fire dying passion in Delta Politics, when some of  us was having doubts surrounded by human rats in jostling for powers.

Esiso refused to be an observer or a spectator, but an active player when he emerged as the People's Democratic Party, PDP, chairman.
He deserves a second honours among the architects of modern Delta.

In the last election, He laboured so hard to dust the opposition that he led the party into winning twenty three LGAs, a fact that has not been accomplished since the days of Chief James Onanefe Ibori.

His place in history;

Esiso, no doubt, has walked the walk of the hopes. In our reflections, when we remember our heroes, who has kept one of the biggest party in Africa bonding amid crisis ever known in the party struggle and actualisation of it's dream, Esiso fits perfectly into the mold of great leaders like Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Mantha Gandhi. Because of these qualities, Delta State is gradually becoming a breeding ground for visionary and dynamic democrats,who are concerned about making Okowa's agenda for a smart Delta, work. His politics is serious with unparallel passion.

Esiso has given us a new definition of a modern and purposeful politics. He has brought out the hand of a surgeon and accuracy of an architect to gather the relics of our broken destiny and fix it back. He is one of the political wonders, long awaited for in Delta; militant in spirit, yet he had succeeded in leading a quiet battle tactically fought in the field in our own generation, his dream had steered the troubled ship of our destiny as a nation out of the explosive waters of doubt, now Delta is found beside the calm waters of advancement unfolding before our very own eyes.

He has also toiled tirelessly for democracy to flourish to an enviable height that we see today; he believes that any cause that would push Delta forward is worth waiting for, fighting for and defending.

Even when Chief Great Ogboru, transformed into a despot in his gab, counting on the power from the national side, Esiso radiated the beauty of resistance to Ogboru's and his cohorts undue domineering posture and attitude. Olorogun Esiso is not in league of vipers and scorpions who call themselves politicians. He has no time roaming like a vulture in the political circle, his time is too precious to him. The first time, we flocked his residence with my colleagues, on the eve of the 2015 gubernatorial election, we met Esiso at a special reception organised by a former Speaker of the house  with some party faithfuls and his political associates in attendance, he shook our hands, his palms were too soft and tender to cork a gun, yet he had fought without throwing a grenade and he won.

He spoke about two things great men in history always talk about,  loyalty and time. He is a man of moderation,simple and impressive,a genius per excellence,he has a sharp and striking voice, something about him is legendary.

Coming from the ranks as a loyal party man, Esiso is a Barrister, but extra good in politics. His principle of loyalty has been practiced amongst his faithfuls, with many reaping off with empowerments, and a place in the scheme of this administration, a quality that has earned him the sobriquet 'The Pope of modern politics.
