RE: AN APPEAL FOR SAPELE-OKPE BORN TO EMERGE AS THE NEXT PDP STATE CHAIRMAN BY SAPELE INDIGENOUS PDP YOUTH AMBASSADORS..........
My attention has been drawn to an open letter to His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa Governor of Delta State by Sapele Indigenous PDP Youth Ambassador & signed by one comrade Anthony O. Akpeki with the above Caption.
I would have ignore it but for its divisive tendencies boldly written all over it.I want to state categorically the facts of the matter and clear some very gray areas......
Before now,the people's Democratic Party ,PDP in Sapele L.G.A has been a United family built on love ,peace and unity of purpose ,which members had sacrificed so much to nurture to this enviable height!
Alas, what went wrong?.
How did PDP Sapele got here ?
Where is that hitherto unity of purpose?.Some of the answers to the above questions find expression to the role played by some party stakeholders, taking their selfish agenda before the general good of our dear party by trying to cause disunity as well as reducing the strength of the party.
Chief Esiso (The Erhumu of Okpe kingdom.)the incumbent State Party chairman, who have effectively piloted the party in Delta state to the glory of God and the benefits of Men to the admiration of all as evident in the last general elections were the part virtually swept almost all the elective positions and also boldly reclaimed some seats under contentions in the supreme court and that of appeal.
Chief Esiso deserves a second term so as to do more for the party ,why then this imbroglio?
He has been a bridge builder and a perfect mobilizer of human resources to achieve the party's goal politically over time and which is evident on ground.
Every single Sapele indigene can testify of the changes that has been witness over this period of his leadership.
Chief Esiso is a founding member of the PDP family from the unit level to the National level. The first Urhobo man to ever occupy the State PDP Chairman in it's over 20years of PDP in Delta state.
I thought the idea of Urhobo rubbishing / bring him down syndrome on its best material on the alter of greed & selfishness has ended going by the collective & massive support shown DSP.Senator Ovie Omo-agege
I'm startled at this same unproductive action rearing its ugly head again.
This is one reason why the Urhobo nation has not really been represented in numbers in the national scene of politics even with the numbers of citizens we boast of.
We always retire our leaders politically before achieving their peak in politics.
Urhobo celebrate your own and allow them grow to maturity.
All his political achievements has been seen in Sapele and have also given back to Sapele all political benefits entitled to him as the state Chairman of the party.
He has never said he is not from Sapele and took such benefits out of sapele.
His registration point is fully in Sapele as a member of Unit 2 ward 2 Sapele L.G.A .
Sapele was a sleeping town in terms of development and new innovations but since the inception of the current leadership of the PDP in Delta state,Sapele has experienced massive development in terms of roads ,infrastructure and political appointments.
It's a known fact that if an individual stays in a community or place for over ten years constantly, he/she can vote and be voted for as a citizen of that place.
Esiso have been living in Sapele for over 10years and this makes him eligible for any political position in Sapele L.G.A .
There are various instance where people occupy elective offices away from their State of Origin but in their State of residence even in Europe and Nigeria some examples include
(1)Desmond Eliot who is from Akwa Ibom State is a member of the Lagos state house of Assembly
(2)Ogbeni Raulf Aregbesola the current minister of interiors is from Osun state but was a commissioner in Lagos State
(3)The current Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state is an Urhobo man but he is a Deputy Governor in an Ijaw land . An Urhobo man is a personal assistant to Governor Gandoje of Kano state .
These are just a few in the list of so many other cases of individuals occupying elective positions in their area of residence not minding their area of Origin. Cosmopolitan thinking for a cosmopolitan town. Sapele is cosmopolitan.
In summary, chief Esiso is a human that make mistake & humble enough to acknowledge it ,a rare gem and a role model that is readily available to continue manning the leadership position of PDP in the State.
The man is a born Safarian,an Okpe chief ,detribalize, dogged, tactical ,dedicated committed ,conscientious, legendary and above all God fearing.
He has brought so much in terms of infrastructure and capital development to Sapele in particular and Delta state in general based on his visionary leadership cum his extremely cordial working relationship with His Excellency the Executive Governor of Delta state Senator (Dr.)Authur Ifeanyi Okowa.
Comrade Anthony O. Akpeki,election positions are better decided on the field and not on social media.
I think Chief Esiso deserves our support and prayers......
