UKAH URGES DELTANS TO REDOUBLE SUPPORT FOR OKOWA TO REAP MORE DEMOCRACY DIVIDENDS

The continuation of the town hall meeting by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to various local government areas of the state has been described as a platform to showcase how the SMART mantra has been translated into physical development.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, stated this yesterday in an interview at the commissioning of the Aragba/Okobia/Okwetolor/Okuagbude/Warri-Sapele road constructed by the Delta State government.
Mr. Ukah said the roads commissioned in Okpe and Udu local government areas were promises make by the Governor during his 2015 electioneering campaigns stressing that the lean resources were being used judiciously to develop the state in all sectors.
He said the new Orerokpe modern market, built to meet international standard, was also a clear indication that the state government was committed to giving all parts of the state projects that will boost commercial activities and charged the people to put the project to maximum use.
He advised critics of the present administration to go round the state to gather first hand information on projects on ground and juxtapose it with what the state got from the federation account adding that prudence, accountability and due process has remained a top priority in the award and execution of projects.
The Information Commissioner said Deltans were lucky to have Senator Okowa as the man at the helm of affairs in this era of paucity of fund occasioned by the economic recession and gave assurance that with maximum support and cooperation, the state will get to the desired destination.
Mr. Ukah said the town hall meeting was apt as it had afforded the Governor opportunity to commission projects executed and completed by his administration in the various local government areas, emphasizing that the ones at different stages of completion will be completed in the life of the present administration.
He commended the people of Okpe and Udu local government areas for their support for the PDP led administration in the state and gave assurance that their socioeconomic and political challenges will continue to attract the attention of government.
He attributed the success story of the Okowa's tenure to the prevailing peace in the upland and riverine communities and enjoined all Deltans to put the interest of the state above other considerations.
