Additional 745 Deltans To Benefit From Govt Empowerment Programme

In continuation of its job creation project under the twin programmes – Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) and Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP)- the Delta State Government has commenced the training of 745 youths for the 2017/2018 set.

The figure, according to the Chief Job Creation Officer of the state, Prof. Eric Eboh, were candidates selected from the over 15,000 applicants for the 2017/2018 set and third circle of the job creation programme of the present administration in the state.

Eboh, while addressing the trainees yesterday at Songhai Delta, Amukpe, said that given the total number of youths already trained and equipped under the STEP and YAGEP programmes, it was obvious that the administration of the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, was already creating an atmosphere for economic emancipation and prosperity.

He, therefore, enjoined the youths to take the training programmes seriously, stressing that Governor Okowa would be happy to hear about their success stories, just as he pointed out that the ultimate goal of the present administration ‘is to transform the lives of the unemployed, under-employed and mis-employed youths in the state.’

The Chief Job Creation Officer said, “We are here today for the 2017/2018 STEP and YAGEP which is the third circle of the state government’s job creation programmes.
