OSHIOMHOLE AND DELTA APC: WHAT NOW FOR IS THIS THEIR BIZZARE AGENDA IN DELTA STATE?
When Oshiomhole, the new Chairman of APC promised to immediately bare his political fangs on Delta Delta after his inauguration, I knew the braggart was at it again.
Oshiomhole is known to revel in the euphoria that he's a unique warlord in Edo politics. Everywhere he goes, he arrogantly acknowledges the fable that he was the politician that singlehandedly immobilised Chief Anenin( Mr Fix It) and the Chief Igbinedion political hegemony in Edo State.
However, same Oshiomhole might not admit it; that this feat of conquest solely ascribed to him owes it's strength however to the electorate and Edo people who just got tired of Mr Fix It ' and his inability to fix nothing but dividends of impunity, political rascality, imposition and undesirables across board.
Same it was with the Igbinedion mafia ably represented at the time by the lacklustre Lucky Igbinedion. Oshiomhole was perhaps only fortunate to spearhead such determined change of order by the masses.
Unfortunately, Oshiomhole has installed a new political order. Alas,from the ruins of the dismantled past,he has entrenched his more subtle or tricky political hegemony wherein himself and his brand of hitherto nobodies ( including some known motor garage touts and agberos) are now the new billionaires, political godfathers and financiers.
The recently conducted LG Election is a typical example.
From authoritative sources, APC stylishly cowered the opposition in order to win all the seats( I imagine a scenario where APC is said to have won all Chairmanship and Councillorship seats in a State with almost all National Assembly members being of the PDP).
Much earlier at the APC Primaries, almost all the candidates who initially were handpicked at the behest of Oshiomhole and the current Governor got sweeping endorsement as consensus candidates whilst dissenting and more marketable voices were intimidated or coerced out of the janjaweed or kangaroo process.
Notable examples of such shenanigans abounded in Oredo,Egor, Ikpoba Okha incidentally the three largest LGs in Edo State.
Maybe the aforementioned is what Comrade Oshiomhole apparently wishes to replicate in Delta State!
No doubt, Oshiomhole is widely known to have a morbid hatred for Gov Okowa whom he sees as being too sophisticated to tame or unravel.
Hence, before exiting as Governor of Edo State, he was at some point prancing and claiming like a befuddled tiger that he was capable of defeating Gov Okowa in a Guber election conducted in Delta State.
A more stately Gov Okowa merely dismissed his twaddle by aptly asserting in an interview that his colleague hadn't any need to agonise over winning an election in Delta State since he's constitutionally, residentially and electorally not qualified to so do. That was just a simple and smart way of dismissing the tantrums of an impulsive and garrulous self- acclaimed orator.
I think Oshiomhole should just be told to settle on how to convincingly deliver a failed President and party to the wary Nigerian electorate.
That's a more tasking and urgent assignment than the thought of adding a PDP State to the kitty of APC already putridly saturated by strange bedfellows, opportunists, misguided political saints and quack progressives drawn questionably from the ranks of the PDP, nPDP and all shades or diverse sources.
By the way, Oshiomhole has even begun on a bad footing in Delta State barely a few days into his tenure.
Aside the unanswered questions as to why he should choose to become Chairman at a time that both Nigerians, heaven and even the usually cheeky international community have all rejected Buhari, Oshiomhole is already betraying former allies in his newly- found state of power drunkenness.
For instance, the same Emerhor he campaigned for as both a Guber and Senatorial candidate and of whom he once acknowledged as the engine room or bulwark of Delta APC is beginning to witness his innate tendencies of betrayal.
Furthermore, we hear that Oshiomhole is also working assiduously to bring Chief Uduaghan into the APC fold: same Uduaghan he castigated as one of the worst dregs of the PDP!
Anyway, Oshiomhole is characteristically that way. To him and his political kindred ,THE MEANS does not matter so long the END is achieved.
Unfortunately, he must hear this also that his agbero-like campaigns will be a bad sell in attempts to woo Delta Electorate in 2019.
Indeed, Deltans already now know better that a taciturn but working Governor is far more preferable than an untested alternative who is sweet- talked into power by a hateful Party Chairman masquerading as the People's Comrade.
