Koko To Get Constant Power Supply
…indigenes hail Okowa, Mayuku
Indigenes of Koko town in Warri North LGA have commended the ingenuity of the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the member representing Warri South-west constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Daniel Omayone Mayuku on the approval, re-award, and commencement of work on the 33kv line and sub-station project in the town inspite of the harsh economic reality.
This commendation was given by Hon. Friday Asamah, former councillor representing Koko ward and former leader of the Leader of the Legislative Arm of Warri North LGA, during a courtesy call to Betatex Engineering Company Limited, on Tuesday, 8th January, 2019 in Koko.
While passing a vote of confidence on Governor Okowa and Hon. Mayuku, Hon. Asamah said the town has suffered epileptic power supply for years, thus resulting to the use of generator which has caused untold hardship to indigenes and small scale businesses, noting that the 33kv line, sub-station and installation of transformers when completed will completely change the narrative of the town for the better.
“Dr. Okowa is a messiah of our time, a detribalized Deltan, a man with strong will to make Deltans prosperous irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation, always been a friend and lover of not only the Koko people but Warri kingdom. This can be evident through massive projects in our town. The Iwere College road, access road to Awaritse Industrial Park, Obite-Ugbo road, Korobe Road has already been commissioned and now the 33kv line, Installation of a sub-station and several units of transformer in koko town. I am assuring you that my people will massively vote for Okowa come March, 2019. We must not fail to appreciate Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku for his doggedness in ensuring the project was funded by this present government” Asamah said.
Alex Joe, the Public Relations Officer of Betatex Engineering Company Limited, the firm handling the project while responding, stressed that though the contract which is 85% completed was awarded in late 2014, the project was solely funded by the Dr. Okowa’s government. He further stressed that the project will meet the February 2019 completion deadline given by the Governor.
“The multi-million naira project connecting Koko to the 33kv line from Ugbenu via Koko junction will crisscross the thirty-three (33) kilometre Koko-Ugbenu road with a sub-station and seven units of transformer in Koko town is eighty-five percent (85%) completed and would be ready for commissioning by the end of February, 2019. I wish to thank the Koko people and the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for the support given to us thus far” Alex Joe said.
