Gov Okowa's 2nd Tenure Shall Be Better Than The First - Eacgovdelta Oghenesivbe
...Apologies to Deltans, Nigerians Over Gov Okowa's Comments On Daughter's Appointment As SSA.
Executive Assistant on Communications to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has again assured Deltans and indeed Nigerians that the second tenure of his boss, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, shall end in glory and thanksgiving to God.
He gave the assurance while responding to questions during a public affairs television live programme in Lagos, on Friday October 11, 2019.
Oghenesivbe said the stronger Delta Agenda was carefully crafted to compliment the first tenure Smart Agenda, so that the two socioeconomic blueprints can achieve the goals of the Okowa administration, adding that the combination of a strong economy, prosperity and infrastructure development remained a triangular economic remodelling panacea for a Stronger Delta State.
He noted that signals emanating from the governor's socioeconomic action plans for the second tenure strongly suggests that the educational sector shall receive a major boost with the establishment of more technical colleges, close down illegal schools and make existing government primary, secondary and institutions for higher education conducive and well equipped for learning.
The EA Communications to Okowa further disclosed that government is also working on the possibility of creating local council development authorities to further deepen communities development and at the same time adopt a result oriented approach for urban renewal across the three senatorial districts in the state.
Oghenesivbe, a member of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA and Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration, FCIDA, told his mass audiences that the state government shall create additional jobs and wealth for youth and women through the State Bureau for Job and Wealth Creation; in addition to other human capital development programmes tailored to fight poverty, unemployment and in the same token expand the scope of prosperity for all Deltans.
Responding to the alleged public outcry over the appointment of governor Okowa's daughter, Mrs Marilyn Daramola nee Okowa, as Special Assistant on Girl Child Matters, Oghenesivbe said the appointee is a qualified Deltan with unquestionable strong moral pedigree and with excellent track records in Girl Child related matters.
He however asserted that the aspect in which the governor said "no apologies for appointing my daughter" may not have gone down well with some Deltans and indeed Nigerians, noting that Okowa being a mortal is not above mistakes, which is why his accusers must of a necessity overlook the minor error and admit the fact that the SSA on Girl Child Matters is a qualified Deltan who subscribed to the code of conduct, rules and regulations for political appointees and staff of the governor.
"The emphasis must be on the capacity of the SSA on Girl Child and certainly not on her relationship to the governor. I do not see Marilyn using her office in such a way as to conjure undue favour from government because governor Okowa is a prudent manager of scarce resources and fair to a large extent as a consummate leader and a mortal.
"The girl child needs extra care and attention because of their strengths and weaknesses, and for these and other reasons the office created for this purpose required a capable hand and I am pretty sure that SSA Marilyn is eminently qualified and Deltans expects her to discharge her assigned official responsibilities without blemish," Oghenesivbe said.
