Agbon Palace Is A Masterpiece, Excellent For Tourists Attraction - Gov Okowa.

Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has accorded grade one rating to the massive architectural masterpiece of the palace of Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ukori 1, and in the same token commended the good people of the kingdom for their display of class, style and inestimable love for their royal father.
He gave the superlative remarks while commissioning the royal palace huge edifice built by sons and daughters of Agbon Kingdom, friends and associates with contributions from the state government.
Okowa used the occasion to advise Deltans and indeed Nigerians to respect royal fathers and traditional institutions, noting that caring for kings is divine as encapsulated in the Holy bible, wherein God placed high premium on the role of kings and their authorities.
He said as a governor, his duties and functions include to work with royal fathers, care for their wellbeing and at the same time listen to them and incorporate some of their ideas, recommendations and strategies in policy formation and people oriented projects execution across the three senatorial districts and still ongoing.
The governor described the Ovie of Agbon kingdom, Ogunrimerime Ukori 1, as an accomplished elder statesman cum excellent king who combined royal panache and traditional functions with some reasonable measures of socioeconomic activities such that the people of Agbon Kingdom in recent years made significant progress in all aspects of human endeavours.
"This palace is a masterclass in terms of architectural designs, beauty and class. Government will not hesitate to partner with Ethiope East Local Government Council and the Agbon traditional institution to see how we can make this eye pumping royal palace a tourist attraction.
"It's amazing and worth emulating. I commend the efforts of those who pulled financial resources together to see this gigantic project to fruition, and to God be the glory," governor Okowa said.
In the same vein, former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, commended governor Okowa for identifying with the palace project, noting that the state made tremendous progress from May 29, 2015 and still counting; because of his good governance initiates.
He further noted that Okowa avoided "politics to the extreme" and positioned himself as a modest leader with everybody in mind, without any trace of extremism in his leadership style.
Ibori commended the royal class and dignity of the royal father of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ukori 1, noting that the king has been a valuable friend for many years and still counting.
"Agbon Kingdom got this project right and I am highly impressed that this beautiful massive palace is now in place. It's a befitting architectural masterpiece comparable in standard to any royal palace in the continent of Africa.
"I wish to, once again, commend our amiable governor for his contributions and excellent display of good governance since assumption of office on May 29, 2015 and still counting," Ibori said.
Reacting to the "tourists attraction aspect of governor Okowa's speech at the palace commissioning ceremony, Executive Assistant on Communications to the governor, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe Esq said Agbon palace design was a deliberate attempt to unearth the creative sense and cultural ingenuity of Agbon people.
He disclosed that Agbon is a special unique kingdom in Urhobo Nation with strong ties to the ancient Benin Kingdom, which is why our royal father, His Royal Majesty Ukori 1, is in the class of dignified kings around the globe.
"As a kingdom, we walk with our shoulders high hence we exhibits uncommon sagacity in dealing with cultural and tradition projects for which the palace masterclass edifice is one, and we thank our beloved governor for his intentions to make Agbon palace a tourist attraction," Oghenesivbe said.
