Mr Michael Uzor the Chairman of the group speaking to reporters during the event lamented over negligence and down to earth wickedness of the NPDC / ND Western management (s) haven written series of letters without response from them. Mr Uzor further noted to NEWSMEN of how they also held such peaceful demonstration on a day dated 20th August 2019 which the management is aware of and that, which was called off by the presence of the Asset Security Supervisor (ASS), Community Liaison Officer (CLO) who came to the point of the scene to address the pressing issues that resulted to the demonstration. They promised to sit to their plights as they relate their request to the appropriate quarters, and also pleaded with them to give them few days to meet and discuss with resource persons and get them feedback. But that has become a dead horse till date.
"We have decided to embark on this demonstration over reluctant to comply with the request of the workers in respect to increment of salaries, increase in manpower, inability to provide Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) etc.
We therefore call on all relevant authorities; the Federal Government, the Delta State Government, Management of NPDC/ ND Western, as enough of the enslavement of Oml 34 workers. We shall not relent in our pursuit, in our protest, until positive response is made, until our voices are held", Mr Michael Uzor asserted.
