1. Minimum Wage: Fed Govt Releases Circular To Labour

The Federal Government has released a template for minimum wage payment. As was contained in the template, the least paid federal worker on Level 1 Step 1 will earn N360,000 per annum while the highest-paid at Level 17 Step 9 will take home N6,215,435 per annum.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, stepped down proceedings in the continuation of trial of Abdulrasheed Maina, who chaired the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM) due to his failing health. Concise News reports that the presiding Judge, Justice Okon Abang, asked Maina to then take his medication after Francis Orasanye, the lawyer to the Maina, had told the court that his client was bleeding.

The Nigerian Senate has approved the request by President Muhammadu Buhari to increase Value-Added Tax (VAT) from 5 percent to 7.5 percent. There has been a reduction in reported cases of whistle blowing due to some challenges, according to Mohammed Dikwa, the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties in the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. Dikwa said this at a national workshop to discuss the draft bill of the whistle blowing policy in Abuja on Thursday.

A former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Bright Omokhodion, former Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea, former state chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Tony Omoaghe were other political heavyweights in Edo State to joined Ize-Iyamu to defect to the APC.

9. Kogi Election: INEC Presents Certificate Of Return To Bello

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State. Concise News had reported that INEC Returning Officer for the election, Ibrahim Umar, said Bello polled a massive 406,222 votes to defeat his main rival, Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 189,704 votes.
