1. 2023: Afenifere Speaks On Buhari Seeking Third Term

The Afenifere Yoruba group has urged Nigerians to resist attempts by President Muhammadu Buhari to go for a third term. Buhari had denied plans of seeking for another four-year tenure in 2023 but a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had called on the National Assembly to amend the country’s law for Buhari to go for another term.

2. ‘Yahoo Boys’: EFCC Nabs Prison Controller, Doctor Over $1m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has nabbed Emmanuel Oluwaniyi and Hemeson Edwin of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). The EFCC in a statement on Tuesday said the duo who are Deputy Controllers of the NCS was arrested by operatives of the commission in Lagos Zone.

3. President Buhari Receives Prime Minister Of Netherlands

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday received Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, at State House, Abuja. Rutte was received at the forecourt of the villa, by the President. The two leaders immediately went into a closed-door meeting at the President’s mini-conference office.

4. Senate Condemns Killing Of Kogi PDP Woman Leader, To Tackle Electoral Violence

The Nigerian Senate has condemned the spate of killings in the country and observed a minute silence in honour of those that lost their lives in the just concluded elections in Bayelsa and Kogi State. The lawmakers are making a move to tackle electoral violence and come up with a Bill to address the election and post-election violence in the country.

5. Osinbajo Calls For Prompt Action On Sexual Abuse As FG Opens Offenders’ Register

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged Nigerians to report cases of sexual harassment and abuses to the police for prompt action. Osinbajo said this at the opening of the Nigeria Sexual Offender Register which will contain the names and pictures of persons convicted of sexual abuses.

6. Jonathan Dares Lamido To Prove Involvement In Malabu Oil Deal

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has refuted a claim by ex-governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, that he worked against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded governorship election in Bayelsa State because of the Malabu oil deal. Lamido had alleged that Jonathan traded off his party in the Bayelsa election because he was trying to avoid being prosecuted by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari over the Malabu deal.

7. Border Closure: Why There’ll Always Be Problem With Nigeria – Obasanjo

As the borders remain closed, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has asserted that “as long as the Benin Republic allow dumping of goods, there will always be a problem with Nigeria”. Obasanjo, therefore, urged Nigeria’s west coast neighbour, Benin, to change its ways for a harmonious bilateral relationship between the two countries.

8. INEC Expresses Readiness For Kogi West/Ajaokuta Re-run Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kogi State James Apam says the commission is ready for Kogi West Senatorial and Ajaokuta Federal Constituency supplementary elections slated for Saturday. Apam, who disclosed this on Tuesday in Lokoja at a Stakeholders’ meeting organised by INEC for the two Supplementary Elections said funding and logistics for the elections had been provided.

9. Why FG Plans To Ban Consumer Ownership Of Cooking Gas Cylinders – Official

The Federal Government’s plan to ban consumer ownership of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders is aimed at enhancing safety and deepening cooking gas penetration in the country, an official said on Tuesday. The Programme Manager, National LPG Expansion and Implementation Plan Dayo Adeshina, said this on Tuesday in Lagos at the Nigeria LPG Summit 2019.

10. NFF Owing Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr $100,000

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are owing Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr $100,000 in bonuses and allowances. Rohr’s contract will expire in June 2020 with the NFF yet to make any new commitments. The NFF had said they would only renew Rohr’s contract after injecting fresh clauses like featuring players in the country’s domestic league for the Eagles.
