Hon CHIEF COACH TETE STAND FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE

Following the track records of Hon Chief Godwin Adode aka Coach Tete since the day he assumed office as the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council from 2018 till date, he have proved beyond reasonable doubt that there are still Local government Chairmen in Delta State who can perform very well to attract meaningful development to their area, to defend their people, protect the wellbeing of the citizens and protect life and property of their people any time any day.

Many people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Indeed, there is an incredible degree of ignorance in the land as it concerns the statutory functions of the various arms of Government in Nigeria. No wonder we pay so much attention to the Federal and State Government, thus paying little or no attention to the Local Government Council. And in the process, we allow the Local Government Chairmen and Councilors to escape with an incredible degree of incompetence or dereliction of duties.

In Nigeria, most Local Governments chairmen are only interested in the aspect of their functions, which will attract revenue to them while they conveniently ignore the responsibilities stipulated under the Fourth Schedule.

They also love the display of power but do not appreciate the responsibility that go along with power. There are some roles every Local government council suppose to perform.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN

1) He monitors compliance with the rules described in the financial regulations governing cash receipts.

2) He supervises accountability and is liable for his actions not only during office hours, but also after his shifts.

3) Periodically he conducts inspections and monitors compliance with financial laws.
Each month the Chairman makes reports on cash receipts and expenses. The local government council receives, studies and discusses information received from him annually.

4) He directs the costs and revenues of local governments to higher authorities. Several decisions are made based on the information he provides to these authorities.

5) The Chairman manages the local government and dictates the duties of its members.

6) He chairs meetings of the executive committee at least once a week.

7) He communicates with representatives of local governments, appeals to the council at least once a year, comes forward with a report on his achievements and informs them of urgent tasks that need consideration.

8) The Chairman provides annual reports assessing the effectiveness of local government leaders.
At the beginning of the year, the annual budget of the local authorities is compiled by the Chairman, after which it is reviewed and approved.

9) The Chairman must consult with other representatives of the Executive Arm while carrying out his official duties.

10) The Chairman is to Protect life and property of his people, etc.

It's very obvious that Hon Coach Tete has done well from the passed two years when discharging his duties as Chairman of Ughelli North LGA in different aspect, such as:

1)  Protecting life and property of the Citizens. He always ensure there is Peace in our communities most especially when there is a crisis around the Local government Area.

2) He always ensure the safety of the citizens most specially this COVID-19 pandemic

3) Beautification of some roundabouts in Ughelli main town

4) Welfare of his people. He always present when any of his people are celebrating in any kind of meaningful ceremonies and also assist them financially

5) Aid to Students. He has paid a lot of students/pupils school fees since when he assumed office

6) He has provided different social amenities

7) He always ensure there is peace between the Local government legislative arm and the executive body.

8) The Council workers are working in peace and harmony with the Chairman because of his leadership style of kindness

9) As the number one Security officer of the LGA, He has try his best to put a strong security major in the Local government.

10) As a lover of sport which paved way for him to bear the name COACH TETE, He always organise football competition and other interesting games among the kingdoms in Ughelli North.

11) He always work in hand together with Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa Executive Governor of Delta State to ensure every dividends that are due to our local government is been release and use for that purpose.

12) Hon Coach Tete is a lover of all either PDP or APC, etc.

I charged the good people of Ughelli North to support our workaholic Chairman, Hon Chief Godwin Adode aka Coach Tete to attract good development, peaceful environment, safety of our people most especially this time of COVID-19 PANDEMIC, and also to ensure peace and harmony among the citizens of our dear local government Ughelli North.
