TAX PALLIATIVES: DBIR GRANTS WAIVER TO PRIVATE PRI AND SEC SCHOOLS, EATERIES, HOTELS AS REGARDS TO INTERESTS AND PENALTIES.

In line with the Stronger Delta Agenda of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa's led administration and his commitment to cushioned the effects of the Covid-19 Pandemic on businesses across the state, the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue has granted waiver to Primary and Secondary Schools, Eateries, Hotels as regards to Interests and Penalties from 2011 to 2019.

The Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Sir Monday John Onyeme who disclosed this yesterday 28/5/20 revealed that waiver of Interests and Penalties on outstanding tax audits liabilities is in recognition of the challenges being faced by private primary and secondary schools, Eateries and Hotels as a results of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) that has Impacted negatively to the economy.

While maintaining that the waiver granted to private primary and secondary schools, eateries and hotels with respect to interests and penalties on tax audit liabilities emanating from tax audit exercises carried out by the Revenue Board from 2011 to 2019, he called on all affected schools, eateries and hotels to take advantage of this waiver and submit a letter of acceptance in writing within twenty one days of this notice to the office of the Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue.

He further admonished those affected to pay the total audit liabilities less interests and penalties on or before the 30th September 2020 to the designated Delta State IGR Accounts with commercial banks, and forward the evidence of payment and the demand notice previously issued, to get their Tax Audit Clearance Letter.

He continued " The Board has also extended the deadline for the filing of Annual Tax Returns (Employees And Self Employed Persons) for the year 2020 from 31st March to 30th June 2020. This is part of the Board's effort to allow businesses to fully commence business activities after the compulsory lockdown" Onyeme added.

"The Delta State Board of Internal Revenue remains committed to provide priority supports to taxpayers to ease the burden of payment of outstanding tax liabilities particularly during this challenging times"
