The Delta State widows' coordinator, Isioma Okonta made known this position when directreporters tv/news granted him a special media interview in his office, Asaba Delta State recently.
The governor's aide said, Governor Okowa is a phenomenon, he expressed this, while speaking to directreporters tv/news crew that the governor has shown great commitment and compassion towards this laudable initiative of widows social welfare scheme in the state by not only paying our dearie beloved mothers, who have loss their husbands , and finding life difficult to cope, but also accommodating them in the State Health Insurance Scheme where they have free accessible primary health care services, for their healthy state.
Elder Isioma Okonta said governor is an unquantifiable, a pacesetter and caring leader who has proven undoubted, as the state government has so far accommodated over 5,670 Delta Widows, who have benefited from this scheme and being paid monthly as when due through the office of social investment programme.
He said, His Excellency has laid a solid foundation for this programme to continue even if he has left office as governor, so that the incoming governor can also find it healthy and resourceful to continue because it's a wonderful and laudable initiative that has helped our mothers so well in many areas of their lives, whom some have used this little stipends to establish businesses and other human social welfare benefits.
Frankly, he said the programme is apolitical, that it cut across party lines and nominations are made from wards, local government areas and senatorial districts with competent and courageous LGA, and Zonal coordinators. He also pointed out that the scheme is highly detribalized, religiously in operation which accommodate both Christians and Muslims in the State.
Subsequently, he observes that the widows are happy and grateful to God almighty for having a man and governor like Ifeanyi Okowa in the State. He also thank His Excellency, Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for creating the enabling environment for this programme to thrive and succeed. He appreciated His Excellency for laying a solid foundation for this scheme.
While thanking Deltans for their supports and prayers for our state, most importantly this period of covid-19 pandemic spread which has really affected global economy, and some high profile personalities whom are effected by this novel virus disease. He expressed gratitude God for our governor and family, the SSG, Information Commissioner and others who have been infected by covid-19 but now tested negative after weeks in isolation centre, now discharged heel and sound.
