DELTA DECIDES 2019: ETHIOPE EAST RECORDS IMPRESSIVE VOTERS REGISTRATION. By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe.
As a result of proactive and practical steps taken by all elected representatives and political appointees in Ethiope East Local Government Area to educate and mobilize eligible but unregistered constituents in recent weeks, report from the LGA strongly indicates that registration has tripled.
The aggressive but well coordinated efforts of stakeholders was ignited by the order of His Excellency the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, urging political appointees and elected representatives throughout the 25 LGAs to educate their people on the gains and importance of the registration exercise so as not to be disenfranchised during the forthcoming general elections
Report from political leaders that closely monitored the exercise in Ethiope East quoted Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials as saying that Ethiope East LGA has recorded impressive turn out, making it one of the leading LGAs in the ongoing voters regiatration exercise.
Leader and host of the August meeting of the LGA elected representatives and political appointees who doubles as the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barrister Mrs Mary Iyasere corroborated the internal field report by saying that the massive turnout was as a result of transportation and other logistics provided by Ethiope East Forum of Elected Representatives and political appointees.
She urged stakeholders to sustain the temple of assistance so that at the end of the voters registration exercise Ethiope East LGA will come first in ranking and mass mobilization.
The meeting reinstated total loyalty to the leaderdhip of Gov Okowa and resolved to deliver Ethiope East to the governor and PDP come 2019.
