In keeping with the Anioma tradition, the Delta State Honorable Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah and the Oganihu Age Grade group of Okpanam town, Delta State, today celebrated the 'Iwa ji'(New Yam) festival to traditionally declare open the eating of fresh harvests.

The occasion saw a large gathering of traditional rulers and political big wigs of Anioma extraction.
The Honorable Commissioner while responding to encomiums poured on him by the Ugoani of Okpanam, said that the festival is an avenue for youths to remain in touch with their roots, as the loss of Ines roots has very negative implications for one's journey in life.

While praising the youths for the peace in the community, he urged them to key into the SMART agenda of the Okowa government and avail themselves of the various SMART programs available to them.
