Govt To Partner Stakeholders On Clean Environment –Ukah

Stakeholders have been assured of the state government’s willingness to partner them in providing a cleaner environment.

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah said this in his office in Asaba when he received the First Runner-Up of Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Miss Rita Chinedu, a Deltan, who paid him a courtesy call.

The commissioner stated that for good living to be safeguarded, everyone must be involved in keeping their environment clean, saying that it was a personal responsibility we owe ourselves.

He said that the pet programme of Miss Rita Chinedu, “Green Girl Project” was in tune with the vision of the state government, aimed at keeping our environment clean and promised to initiate a committee within his ministry to make the project succeed.

“I think there is a synergy in the project with our expectation and we will set up a small committee to see how we can make it a success,” the commissioner stated, adding, “The passionate description of Miss Rita clearly makes it fit into the Big Heart status of Delta State.”

While congratulating Miss Rita Chinedu, an indigene of Umuagu in Asaba, the Information Commissioner called on the promoters of the pet project and organisers of Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Folio Mega Group, to intensify efforts at selling the project.

Earlier, Miss Rita Chinedu revealed that her pet programme, Green Girl Project, was aimed at developing interest in environmental and climate change issues, to raise what Covershe described as ”Environmental Champions”.
According to her, the project would engage 500 persons for training, out of which 100 of them would be certified for empowerment to run the pet programme, saying that the ultimate objective was to create a better impact on the environment

The representative of Folio Media Group and owner of Miss Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Yvonne Anoruo, stated that Miss Rita Chinedu represented Delta State at the 2017 Edition of the Beauty Pageant, but emerged First Runner-Up, affirming that Rita represented Delta gallantly.

Yvonne Anoruo, who is the Public Relations and Communications Manager of the group, said that the pet project of Miss Rita was not aimed at reducing her First Runner-Up status to a regional level, but that it was only normal that charity should begin at home, emphasising that it was a pilot programme with Delta State as starting point.
