DESOPADEC URHOBO ETHNIC NATIONALITY TO HOLD PROJECTS TOWN HALL MEETING ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 19, AT WELLINGTON HOTEL, EFFURUN. TIME 10AM PROMPT.

By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq.

In total compliance with the Stronger Delta Agenda and firm directives by His Excellency the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, requiring political appointees, agencies and commissions to involve traditional rulers and all stakeholders in projects selections, the management of the Delta State Oil Producing Communities Development Commission, DESOPADEC, will hold yet another town hall meeting for Urhobo Ethnic nationality.

Executive Director, Finance and Administration of DESOPADEC, Barrister John Nani said the Urhobo ethnic nationality town hall meeting will afford traditional rulers and other stakeholders; including representatives of Women, Youth and organised groups to have inputs in projects and agree on specific projects to be incorporated into the state annual budget,.

One of the major advantages of the town hall meeting is that decision reached at the end of the entire process becomes the project of the people, by the people and for the people. This is a paradigm shift from the old method where few leaders in communities recommend projects to government without wide  consultations.

It follows that the commission under the new leadership of Chief Michael Diden and Bashorun Askia Ogie, and going by the specific instructions of the state governor, decided to convey the town hall meeting so as to enable stakeholders identity and agree on essential projects based on priority, to be incorporated into the 2020 state budget, for execution by government.

The town hall meeting shall hold at the Orogun Hall of Wellington Hotel,. Effurun, Delta State. Time is 10am prompt.

Traditional rulers, Commissioners representing Urhobo Ethnic Nationality in the board of DESOPADEC, stakeholders and invited guests are expected to be seated on or before 9:30am, the statement added.
