Edo PDP And The Shape Of Things To Come.

By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq.

Those of us who learnt political lessons the hard way, are quick to tell you that the greatest mistake in politics is to toy with any mega opportunity. Don't do it,  you may never recover from it. There is no morality in politics.

In 2017, luck smiled on me, an opportunity that would have launched me into limelight in the corridors of power came on a platter of gold,  but I goofed, still licking my wounds and being laughed at by those I considered while throwing away the baby and the bath water,  it was a foolish and davastitating decision.

The Edo APC crisis between Comrade Adams Oshiomole's caucus and Governor Godwin Obaseki's faction may turn out to open great doors of opportunity for some political actors.

Those with foresight and keen observers of political events have since positioned themselves so as to strategically maximise the obvious windows of opportunities made available by the power tussle between Oshiomole and Obaseki.

One of such strategist that may benefit from the ongoing APC internal petty squabbles in Edo State, is Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who according to liable resources, shall be officially received into the APC ruling class in a mega political carnival that will feature the arrowheads in the Party's high command, including DSP Ovie Omo Agege.

My worries are that the defection of Pastor Ize-Iyamu may take a davastitating toll on Edo PDP.  It was further learnt that a sizeable number of PDP heavyweights are warming up to shift camp to APC in December. And this fearful political mass exodus will take place between December 11 and 13, 2019.

My fears prompted a call to my friend and brother POI the Kpelebe; and he confirmed that the month of December shall record a Tsunami kind of defection in the history of Edo politics; APC and the people, according to him, shall be the major beneficiaries.

PDP,  our great party, must ponder over this unavoidable political sad event that will befall her in December, and must begin the deployment of corresponding strategies and/or retaliatory moves, so as to ameliorate or minimize the resultant negative effects which POI and his teeming supporters shall inflict on Edo PDP. This is not the  time for self pity and blame games.

The heart breaking aspect of the foreseeable defection saga and or massive exodus of some PDP party faithfuls to the APC, is that the defection is coming few months to the governorship election in that State. It requires round the clock planning and scheming, if our great party, PDP,  is to overcome this impending political tragedy.

If something extraordinary is not done very quickly by the kingmakers, musketeers and stakeholders of Edo PDP, the results of the 2020 gubernatorial election may turn out to be the last straw that will break the camel's back. No need to dance around a mesirable situation,   quick and strategic solutions remains the best option.

Major strategists, musketeers and best brains in political communication and electioneering scheming within and outside Edo State, must be assembled to immediately commence result oriented damage control fireworks in that State.

Insiders speculated that one of the winning cards shall be the defection of the incumbent governor of Edo State to PDP, and subsequently use the power of incumbency to dislodge the POI structures, the federal might and Comrade Oshiomole's killer political upper cuts. This permutation is yet to be confirmed and must be left in the realm of speculation, at least, for now.

If the rumoured possible defection of governor. Obaseki to PDP turns out to be real, it is strongly recommended that other options should be tailored around this kind of cord, considering the possibility of a red card from the game changers. The Buharists are dogged, always ready for fierce battles.

We keep our fingers crossed and watch the political pendulum and it's direction.

PDP...Power To The People.
