IN WHOSE STRATEGIC INTEREST
By Lucky Futughe
African Nations have become a pawn in the strategic chess board of international politics. In the quest to satisfy the insatiable appetite of capitalist establishment, developed Nations engage in all sorts techniques to undermine the National Security of other countries.
Most African societies are too gullible to discern the wiles of foreign Nations. Moreso, the immediate challenges confronting citizens of these developing countries have further affected the thinking faculty of the masses. In these situations, attention is focused on survival rather than analysing the effects of the remote causes of our National problems.
The birth of various militia groups across the African Continent and the Middle East(Supposed Axis of Death) and the inability of Government to decisively end insurgence activities is a stack reminder that third World War has begun already, however, the battlefields are in those continents earlier highlighted. The level of sophistication of these militia groups is a lucid indication that they have the support of foreign Govt that provide training, logistics, technologies and hardware to further their strategic interest.
It is no longer news that permanent members of the United Nations Security Council who were supposed to be world police were engaged in duplicity through proxy wars.
These countries are facing neocolonialism through proxy wars in the name Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram, ISIL, ISIS, Al Qaeda, etc. These permanent members have continued to strengthen their influence in countries of strategic significance while fuelling parochial sentiments through local collaborators. These trivial sentiments are the regular used to enthrone their preferred pumpet into powerful Government positions and are willing kill anybody who stand in their way to strategic benefits.
The assassination of Patrice Lumumba of the DRC is a valid reminder of the evil that the African continent faces and why it maybe near impossible to liberate developing countries if we do not start thinking like trained intelligence experts.
The present reign of terror and ubiquitous level of insecurity in Nigeria calls for a total National consciousness. The beheading of the CAN Chairman, killing of UNIMAID student and recently a seminarian is a pointer that they have intesify their mandate to spread fear and terror to enable foreign Govt actualise their strategic interest in the country. This is the true definition of terrorism. The gruesome murder of the CAN Chairman as shown on online video released and the near helpless situation of our security forces, is terrorising the minds of Nigerians.
The level of insecurity in the country gave birth to Amotekun as a regional arrangement to tackle the security challenges confronting the South West region just like the remaining Geopolitical Zones. Will the current strategic beneficiaries allow Nigeria to disintegrate as the tempo and spread of violence increases? Who will benefit strategically from the disintegration of Nigeria? Surely, foreign powers will continue to use third world countries as pawn in their global chess board of international politics.
The Nigeria security forces have the capabilities to end insurgency, however, the political will is not there to take decisive action. The failure of the armed forces to be loyal to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is the rationale behind the poor performance of our security forces. The security challenges confronting the nation is solvable only if the elites desist from their dishonest behavior.
Sadly, some of the political class that the masses adore and or worship are the local collaborators Western powers use to undermine the development of Nigeria. Gaddafi was killed with the help of local collaborators from Benghazi, same thing with Samuel Dooe, etc. The Charles Taylor that was used to undermine Liberia Sovereignty was eventually arrested, prosecuted and convicted in the International Criminal Court by the same Western Powers who broke him out of maximum security prison in the United States of America.
Africans especially Nigerians must adopt the Hamburger trick while dealing with the West. It is through such brilliant behavior that we can sustain our National pride. The era of politics of convenience should be quickly jettison because failure to do so would mean sacrificing our beloved country to the colonial masters.
