ON COVID-19
It is such a pain and very disheartening that with all the publicity and outcry about COVID- 19 Nigeria has only six centers for test Corona virus.
This virus is like malaria fever and malaria fever is a well known disease/sickness in Nigeria /Africa yet no standard Hospital to combat malaria in Nigeria.
The health system in foreign countries see malaria as a deadly disease over the year and they have a well equipped hospital that has made malaria a thing of rare occurrence in Europe and America..
Lagos with its enviable IGR and a hub for private sectors to thrive in any business can't boast of a standard equipped facility to combat malaria or COVID 19 and already billion of Naira have been wasted on this without an outbreak....
Imagine what would happen if we are face with cases like as it is in spain, Italy or USA... We wouldn't even be able to attend to 10% of the popularion because the government is busy chasing shadows with the funds instead of building and equipping centres for isolation in case of out break... We are currently seeing a good trend of churches, NGO still support Lagos with ventilators and this is very commendable..
Early detection of illment is key to all sickness, yet Governors are preparing/arranging isolation centre without proper equipment instead of getting test centre to test early stages.
It would be better for government to arrange for free COVID 19 test for everyone to get a correct figure and start immediate treatment for positive patients before they become symptomatic... How much is a test kit ?
I think Government/Governors should consider setting up test centers to do massive ransom test than lockdown & waiting to treat suspected cases .
